Allergy Testing & Desensitisation

Allergy Testing and Desensitisation Allergy testing and desensitisation is an excellent way of reducing the load on the immune system, leaving it more able to deal with the everyday stresses and strains of normal life. During a treatment session not only will you be tested for foods and chemicals, you will also be tested to see if there are any residual or ‘ghost’ infections remaining, or antibiotics and/or inoculations that have not been processed completely, putting more strain on an already overloaded system.

This system is painless and is suitable for everyone, babies, young children, teenagers and adults. There is no need to put any potential allergen into the person being tested as the testers are kept outside the body and are just held, or rested on the patient. The treatment session lasts for 90 minutes and the desensitisation process takes a number of weeks to work through depending on the patient and the allergens concerned. A second testing is recommended a couple of months after the treatment schedule has been completed.

The principles of homeopathy are applied when normalising a response to a substance that has previously caused and allergic reaction. This principle being that the symptoms of an illness can be reduced dramatically by administering a minute dose of the substance that would cause those same symptoms if a large dose was given to a healthy person.

Firstly, the patient’s allergens are identified by means of muscle testing, which is both painless and simple. Once this process is completed, specialised homeopathic potencies of the allergens are prescribed. This process has been developed and practised over the past twenty years at the home of the Institute of Allergy and Environmental Therapy in Ffynnonwen, near Aberystwyth in Wales. Recent trials at the Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital have shown this technique to be highly effective in identifying and overcoming the effects of allergens on the health and wellbeing of sufferers.

Allergens are identified when certain muscles go weak when tested by using Applied Kinesiology, a muscle balancing technique evolved from chiropractic. In this way large numbers of substances can be tested in a short time, with no discomfort, no injections and no skin scratching.

Many allergens cause reactions such as skin problems, breathing difficulties, general irritability, migraine and depression. There are however, many allergens that cause a lesser reaction, simply a feeling of being unwell or generally below par.

Conventional methods tend to only pick up the reactions that are producing obvious symptoms. By using Applied Kinesiology, even the slightest intolerance can be picked up, allowing a remedy to be prescribed. Blood tests are expensive and only a maximum of five substances can be tested at one time. Skin scratch tests are not only uncomfortable, but are only 40% accurate. This user friendly method of allergy testing makes it ideal for babies and children as well as those patients who are nervous of medical procedures.
